The Downers Grove North Trojans entered their tilt with the Lyons Lions with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Downers Grove North pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over Lyons. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Downers Grove North was the better team in the second half.
Leading Downers Grove North to victory were Ann Stephens and Campbell Thulin. Stephens scored nine points along with seven rebounds, while Thulin scored 15 points along with three steals. Thulin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Downers Grove North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Lyons, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Downers Grove North won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Conant at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Conant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Downers Grove North is ranked 28th). As for Lyons, Lyons and Proviso West will face off at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
