If the Gulf Buccaneers were feeling good off their 55-14 takedown of the Fivay Falcons two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gulf took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nature Coast Tech on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (55), Gulf still had to take the loss.
Gulf's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaydn Wood, who gained 261 total yards and three touchdowns, and Antonio Muniz who rushed for 161 yards and five touchdowns. Muniz is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Nature Coast Tech had a senior duo take command as Connor Riggins rushed for 210 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry and Christian Cromer rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Cromer is absolutely dominating the rushing touchdown category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Gulf now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Nature Coast Tech, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf will challenge Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Wales will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Nature Coast Tech will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against South Sumter at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. South Sumter is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
