The Huntington North Vikings are on the road again on Friday and play against the Westfield Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Huntington North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while Westfield is ranked second).
Huntington North struggled with threes on Saturday (Marion had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Huntington North was dealt a 77-40 defeat at the hands of Marion.
Despite the defeat, Huntington North had strong showings from Sam Double, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Zach Nash, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Ethan Zahn was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Westfield put another one in the bag last Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Bethesda Christian with a sharp 50-25 victory. With Westfield ahead 34-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for Nic Book, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Will Harvey, who scored eight points.
Huntington North's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Westfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Huntington North have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. However, it's not like Westfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 8.4 threes per game.
