The Valley Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Cottonwood Classical Prep Coyotes at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
Valley posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Rio Grande as Valley made off with a 60-36 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Valley has posted against Rio Grande since January 23, 2018.
It was another big night for Nevaeh Richardson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Giana Roybal, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Cottonwood Classical Prep won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-27 loss at the hands of Menaul. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cottonwood Classical Prep in their matchups with Menaul: they've now lost four in a row.
Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Cottonwood Classical Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Everything came up roses for Valley against Cottonwood Classical Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 76-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
