The Bishop Manogue Miners had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 66-26 victory over Damonte Ranch on the road. Bishop Manogue's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bishop Manogue got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Milasarai Tau out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Tau hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaileen Yarrow, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Damonte Ranch's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nisa Rodriguez, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds, and Quinn Garrett who scored six points. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Bishop Manogue pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.73 points. As for Damonte Ranch, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Manogue will take on Douglas at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Douglas is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Damonte Ranch, they will head out on the road to face off against Reed at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Reed is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
