Sabino is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Round Valley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sabino Sabercats will take on the Round Valley Elks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sabino had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-31 win over River Valley. Sabino pushed the score to 40-15 by the end of the third, a deficit River Valley cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Cameron Hackworth, who threw for 467 yards and six touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Shamar Berryhill, who picked up 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Round Valley put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on American Leadership Academy - West Foothills with a sharp 32-7 victory.
Their wins bumped Sabino to 8-3 and Round Valley to 7-4.
