Basketball Recap: Timnath Comes Up Short

Timnath dropped down to 18-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to the Roosevelt Roughriders. The Cubs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Roughriders earlier this season, when they won 58-55.

Timnath's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Roselle, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. Roselle is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cody Nelson, who posted 14 points and three steals.

As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games.

Noah Lucero had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 67% from the field en route to 23 points and six boards. What's more, he posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2025. Brooks Reckard was another key player, putting up nine points.

Timnath wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-29 win against Wellington on the 24th. As for Roosevelt, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-48 victory against Thompson Valley on the 20th.
