It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Carroll Chargers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 63-38 margin over the Legends. Given Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Legends are ranked 309th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Carroll to victory were Jersey Paul and Lily George. Paul scored 22 points, while George dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jaidyn Fuller was another key contributor, scoring a point along with six assists and two steals.
Fort Wayne North Side lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kamiah Morris, who scored 11 points along with five steals. Morris hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'liyah Paige, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Fort Wayne North Side struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Carroll racked up 11 assists.
Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. As for Fort Wayne North Side, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.
Carroll won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Fort Wayne Snider will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Fort Wayne North Side does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
