Basketball Recap: Sunday's Victory Is Ridge Community's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Ridge Community's tournament run continued when they took on Golden Gate on Sunday. The Ridge Community Bolts came out on top against the Golden Gate Titans by a score of 53-43. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bolts.

Ridge Community can attribute much of their success to Tarique Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Kennedy has become a key player for Ridge Community: the team is 7-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eugene Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Ridge Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Gate only posted five assists.

Despite the loss, Golden Gate still got an impressive performance from Sam Powell, who posted 24 points and eight boards. That was a full 55.8% of Golden Gate's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kamal Hyppolite, who put up 11 points and six rebounds.

Ridge Community has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Golden Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Ridge Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-28 loss against First Baptist Academy on the 30th. As for Golden Gate, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-32 defeat against Port Charlotte on the 3rd.
