The Brush Beetdiggers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Prospect Ridge Academy 46-43. That's another feather in the cap for Brush, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Brush to victory were Karime Castillo and Jocelynn Middlemist. Castillo scored ten points along with four steals, while Middlemist scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Michelle Headley, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Brush's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Brush won't have much time to rest: their next game is against University at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. University presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brush in Colorado (University is ranked tenth, while Brush is ranked 223rd). As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manual at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
