Section 6 A - North recap October 22, 2013
Sweet Home was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after a bye. The Panthers came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 45 last week.
Starpoint moved up to 337 from 395 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 6 A - North. The Spartans were able to move up by beating Iroquois 20-0.
North Tonawanda's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Woodard threw for 135 and 2 touchdowns and Jacob Ferry had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Christian Mahoe chipped in 151 yards. Nehemiah Stone helped North Tonawanda's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 45 yards.
Woodard put up the best numbers through the air as the Lumberjacks bested Tonawanda. Woodard's favorite target this week was Ferry, who caught 4 passes for 80 yards.
North Tonawanda's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Lumberjacks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Woodard has thrown for 1,179 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Ferry has 31 catches for 646 yards. Woodard also leads the league in rushing with 634 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Sweet Home takes on Kenmore East. As it stands, John Faller's team is in first, while the Bulldogs are in fourth.
Kenmore East lost to Kenmore West 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
