If the Moberly Spartans were feeling good off their 73-50 takedown of the Osage Indians on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Moberly suffered a rough 67-42 loss at the hands of Hallsville on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Moberly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Hallsville is ranked 38th).
Moberly's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Bivins, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kish Jacobs jr, who scored ten points.
Moberly's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-5. As for Hallsville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Moberly will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Harrisburg at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for Hallsville, they will be playing at home against California at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
