Overton suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after losing to Loup City. The Eagles had been ranked 16th, but fell to 28.
Elm Creek was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Alma. The Buffaloes came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Arapahoe's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caden Weverka threw for 193 and five touchdowns and Isaac Watson had 92 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony Shimmin chipped in 94 yards. Dakota Schroeder helped Arapahoe's passing attack out by catching one ball for 45 yards.
Cooper Breinig made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Warriors bested Southwest. The freshman racked up one sack.
The Cardinals' Brady Stuhmer and Jarrod Bantam have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading D1 District 9 (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. Stuhmer has thrown for 914 yards this season, while Bantam, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 18 catches for 436 yards. Weverka from Arapahoe leads the league in rushing with 826 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Alma takes on Overton. Isaac Frecks' team is currently in fourth, while the Eagles are in third.
Dustin Sealey's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 67 points on the Roughriders. Weverka ran for 12 yards in the win.
