The Alta Hawks will challenge the Bountiful Redhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alta has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Alta is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Olympus on Thursday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 12-1. The matchup marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Alta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Brownell, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bountiful, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Skyline on Thursday as they made off with a 15-4 win. The Redhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by nine runs or more this season.
Dylan Carpenter made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bountiful got a massive performance out of Brenna Wentworth, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Wentworth has posted over her last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Peyton Orchard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bountiful's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Alta, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alta suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Bountiful in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will the Hawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
