This season hasn't been kind to the New Albany Bulldogs, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a serious blow against Hernando on Thursday, falling 71-28. While losing is never fun, New Albany can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Hernando is ranked 35th).
Fran Kelly was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals for Hernando. The matchup was Kelly's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Kelly, who scored 6 points.
New Albany's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hernando, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Albany will take on Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernando won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lewisburg at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Lewisburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
