After a string of three wins, the Circle Thunderbirds's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 45-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Labette County. Circle was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Labette County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Labette County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landry Obrien out in front who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was Obrien's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Nevaeh Jones was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Circle's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Labette County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Circle will square off against Augusta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Augusta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Labette County, they will head out on the road to face off against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-1-1 during that stretch of close contests.
