The Washburn Rural Blues have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 44-37 to Blue Valley Northwest on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Washburn Rural can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Huskies are ranked eighth).
Lainie Douglas was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds for Blue Valley Northwest. That makes it three consecutive games in which Douglas has scored at least a third of Blue Valley Northwest's points. Gabi Mcfall was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Washburn Rural dropped their record down to 7-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Blue Valley Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Washburn Rural is on the road again on Friday and plays the Spartans on February 2nd. As for Blue Valley Northwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
