Cheylin is 9-1 against Golden Plains since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cheylin Cougars will be playing at home against the Golden Plains Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Golden Plains took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cheylin, who comes in off a win.
Cheylin posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Western Plains 50-21 at home.
Cheylin had a senior duo take command as Pablo Bermudez scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals and Logan McCarty dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bermudez has scored at least a third of Cheylin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hendricks, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Golden Plains suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Quinter 96-42. While losing is never fun, Golden Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Quinter is ranked 93rd).
Cheylin's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Golden Plains, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cheylin against Golden Plains in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-25 victory. Will Cheylin repeat their success, or does Golden Plains have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
