Football Recap: Grovetown Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Grovetown had won four straight home games and Josalyn Sergeant did her part to make it five on Thursday. The Grovetown Warriors came out on top against the North Clayton Eagles by a score of 14-6 thanks in part to Sergeant, who rushed for 55 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 47 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Grovetown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kaitlyn Tansiel. She has been hot for a while, having also posted at least one defended passe the last nine times she's played.

Grovetown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.4 points per game. As for North Clayton, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Grovetown wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 20-14 loss against North Oconee on the 5th. North Clayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
