Dunkirk and Olean are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Dunkirk Marauders will head out on the road to challenge the Olean Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Dunkirk and 12 for Olean dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Dunkirk took a serious blow against Salamanca, falling 58-14. While losing is never fun, Dunkirk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while Salamanca is ranked 176th).
Meanwhile, Olean had to suffer through a rough 81-26 loss at the hands of Southwestern. Olean was down 64-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Dunkirk has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Olean, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Dunkirk against Olean in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 66-32 victory. With Dunkirk ahead 38-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
