The Cody-Kilgore Cowboys/Cowgirls lost against the Crawford Rams back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cody-Kilgore fell 55-46 to Crawford. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cody-Kilgore in their matchups with Crawford: they've now lost eight in a row.
Cody-Kilgore's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikah Vander wey, who scored 12 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vander wey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rachel Farley, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Britney Klein continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crawford, scoring 14 points along with eight steals and five assists. Klein has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Keslyn Vogel was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Cody-Kilgore has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Crawford, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Cody-Kilgore will take on Minatare at TBD on Saturday. Cody-Kilgore is facing Minatare at the right time seeing as Minatare is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Crawford, they will head out on the road to challenge Lingle-Fort Laramie at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lingle-Fort Laramie will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Crawford surely won't give up without a fight.
