The Mineral County Serpents suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They were outmatched by Sage Ridge on the road and fell 66-25. Mineral County's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Mineral County still got an impressive performance from Taiylor Sanchez, who scored seven points along with seven steals. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayona Kimmins, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Mineral County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sage Ridge racked up 13 assists.
Sophia Soran continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sage Ridge, dropping a triple-double on 36 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Soran has scored all season. Beatrice Liwanag was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Mineral County dropped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Sage Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mineral County will take on Coleville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sage Ridge, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
