North Raleigh Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wesleyan Christian Academy can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Concord Academy with a sharp 7-1 victory.
Alexis Emery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.4 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Allison Cheek, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ragan Godfrey, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
North Raleigh Christian Academy picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Raleigh Christian Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Wesleyan Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given North Raleigh Christian Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Wesleyan Christian Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
