Wolfe County has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Lexington Catholic has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. On Tuesday, Wolfe County came up short against Madison Southern and fell 6-1.
Wolfe County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camden Oliver, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lexington Catholic got themselves on the board against Somerset on Tuesday, but Somerset never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Briar Jumpers with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.
Not much got past Wyatt Hayslett, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Somerset off the board. Hayslett has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brady Wasik was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jake Scott, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Lexington Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somerset only posted a batting average of .130.
Wolfe County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Lexington Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wolfe County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lexington Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
