Faustina Academy took a serious blow against Cornerstone Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 68-20. Faustina Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-3.
Cornerstone Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasmine Nordstrom, who scored 17 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Nordstrom. Maddye Hornsby was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five steals.
Faustina Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faustina Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chisholm Trail Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. As for Cornerstone Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Austin Royals HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Austin Royals HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1230th, while Cornerstone Christian Academy is ranked 577th).
