The North Branford Thunderbirds lost against the Rockville Rams back in October of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. North Branford's tough 35-14 loss to Rockville might stick with them for a while. North Branford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, North Branford still got an impressive performance from Tommy Hansen, who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Hansen is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Amir Knighton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 167 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also catching a touchdown. Knighton was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 52 yards.
North Branford has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Rockville, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Branford will take on Morgan at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Morgan is ranked 73rd, while North Branford is ranked 83rd). As for Rockville, they will head out on the road to face off against Stafford/Somers/East Windsor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Stafford/Somers/East Windsor comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
