Baseball Recap: Comstock's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Comstock had to endure an 11-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the White Pigeon Chiefs 9-3 on Thursday. The Colts not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 16-0).

Tyler Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last seven contests. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Comstock: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Comstock let Brandon Smith and Karson Snapp run wild. Smith went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Snapp went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave Smith a new career-high.

Comstock's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for White Pigeon, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, Comstock will be playing at home against Lawrence at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for White Pigeon, they will venture away from home to take on Colon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
