The Vestaburg Wolverines had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Carson City-Crystal 40-15. The victory was just what Vestaburg needed coming off of a 62-20 loss in their prior contest.
Vestaburg found their leader in underclassman Lily Johnston, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnston has scored at least a third of Vestaburg's points. Megan Beetley was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Vestaburg's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Carson City-Crystal, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-10.
Vestaburg will be playing at home against St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Charles will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. As for Carson City-Crystal, they will head out on the road to take on Breckenridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Breckenridge's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Carson City-Crystal's offense will have their work cut out for them.
