The Gates Chili Spartans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brighton. Gates Chili has not had much luck with Brighton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Gates Chili's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Vigerzi, who scored 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Tantalo, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Gates Chili bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Brighton, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will face off against Churchville-Chili at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Churchville-Chili has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three games. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Webster Schroeder at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Webster Schroeder presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brighton in New York (Webster Schroeder is ranked 164th, while Brighton is ranked 437th).
