Baseball Recap: Greenback Makes It Five in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Anderson County, Greenback was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Unaka Rangers as Greenback made off with a 16-1 win. The Cherokees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 12 runs or more this season.

JJ Caudill was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Owen O'Donnell was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Holt, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Greenback lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Greenback's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Unaka, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Greenback will have a chance to go back-to-back against Unaka: the pair will be back at it again later today.
