The St. Luke's Storm are taking a road trip to challenge the Taft School Big Red at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Luke's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, St. Luke's was able to grind out a solid win over Greens Farms Academy, taking the game 11-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.
Nate Kesselmark made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Kesselmark was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Kesselmark is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christian Brown, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season. David Carioto was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Taft School and Westminster School meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Big Red blew past the Martlets 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Big Red have posted against the Martlets since April 23, 2021.
Evan Douglas looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Noah Jettelson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cayden Van Dolah, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Taft School's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.5 runs. As for St. Luke's, their record is now 3-1.
St. Luke's suffered a grim 23-9 defeat to Taft School in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
