The Silex Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 85-44 loss at the hands of Van-Far. Silex was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-14.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van-Far to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gage Gibson, who went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 4 assists. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nikos Connaway, who scored 11 points along with nine assists and five steals.
Silex's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for Van-Far, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silex is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Winfield at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. As for Van-Far, they will take on Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Harrisburg is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
