The Owings Mills Golden Eagles lost against the Loch Raven Raiders back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Owings Mills fell 53-44 to Loch Raven. While losing is never fun, Owings Mills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Loch Raven is ranked 104th).
Marcus Nelson and Neveah Elliott certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Nelson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Elliott scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36.4% of Owings Mills' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Owings Mills has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Loch Raven, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owings Mills will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Randallstown at 5:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Loch Raven, they will square off against Kenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenwood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
