Softball Recap: Covenant Day Extends Winning Streak to Six

Covenant Day waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 19-2 margin over the Lucy Beckham Bengals. Considering the Lions have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reilly Jane (RJ) Llaneza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Avery Houseton was incredible, firing off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. Isabelle (Izzy) Horton was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Covenant Day lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lucy Beckham, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Covenant Day has already played their next game, a 9-7 win against Ashley Ridge on the 19th. As for Lucy Beckham, they will challenge Goose Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lucy Beckham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
