The Coffee Trojans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 56-7 win over Greenbrier at home. Considering Coffee has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Fred Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maurice Hansley, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes.
Coffee's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Greenbrier and 2-8 Salem (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.5% over those games). As for Greenbrier, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coffee will challenge Ware County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ware County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Coffee likes a good challenge. As for Greenbrier, they will head out on the road to face off against Bradwell Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
