Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Putnam City West Patriots, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to Ponca City 27-21. Putnam City West has not had much luck with Ponca City recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Putnam City West still got an impressive performance from Dujuan Knight, who rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Knight was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Warrior, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Putnam City West has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Ponca City, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Putnam City West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ponca City will take on Muskogee at TBD on Friday. Muskogee presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ponca City in Oklahoma (Muskogee is ranked 17th, while Ponca City is ranked 93rd).
