The Sandhills Valley Mavericks took care of business in their home opener on Friday (barely). They skirted past Anselmo-Merna 36-33. That's another feather in the cap for Sandhills Valley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sandhills Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Leyton Connell out in front who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Kramer, who scored 1 points along with 10 rebounds and 7 blocks.
Sandhills Valley's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Anselmo-Merna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Sandhills Valley will head out on the road to face off against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anselmo-Merna, they will be playing at home against Arcadia/Loup City on Tuesday.
