Rialto and Eisenhower are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Knights will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Eisenhower took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rialto, who comes in off a win.
Rialto barely beat San Gorgonio the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Spartans on Wednesday. The Knights not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 14-4).
Rylee Estrada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Milenni Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Johanna Zamano, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rialto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Carter.
Milani Paige made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Hamner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Eisenhower's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Rialto, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rialto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Eisenhower struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rialto skirted past Eisenhower 9-7 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
