Five of the 10 players are listed on MaxPreps.com's Top 100 Players to Watch List, including No. 20 Daniels and No. 29 McClellan. Daniels averaged a double-double (14.9 points, 10.2 rebounds) as a junior at
Taft (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and has not yet committed to a college program. McClellan, a native of Houston, averaged 24.0 points per game this season and is headed to the University of Texas next year.
A total of eight dunkers and eight 3-point shooters will be selected by MaxPreps.com to participate in the event. At least one slam dunk participant will be selected via video submission. To submit a video, please visit www.maxpreps.com. Videos must be received by Friday.
"This is a very accomplished group of high school seniors," MaxPreps.com basketball editor Jason Hickman said. "I expect they will put on quite a show for fans in the Houston area and nationwide via CBS Sports. There are five players in this group that averaged over 30 points per game this season. Sheldon McClellan will be a huge local favorite, but 5-foot-7 Kiwi Gardner has a chance to be the star of the show in the dunk contest."
Tickets for the 2011 National High School Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets can be purchased at www.highschoolslam.com.
