There's no place like home for the Astoria/VIT Rebels, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-50 win over West Prairie on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Astoria/VIT, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Ben Sherrod continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Foglesong, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, West Prairie saw an underclassman step up: Braden Coplan scored 30 points. Coplan scored a full 60% of West Prairie's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matt Whitman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Astoria/VIT now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Prairie, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will take on Midwest Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Prairie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lewistown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
