The Gustine Reds will head out to square off against the Denair Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Waterford hit Gustine with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Reds fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-4.

Malia Huhane put in work no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Huhane was also big at the plate, earning one run and three stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Jaclynn Lopez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kolby Watts also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Denair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Stone Ridge Christian. That's two games in a row now that the Coyotes have lost by just one run.
Denair saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Zazueta, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Gustine's record is now 1-3. As for Denair, their record now sits at 5-7.
Denair's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Gustine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Denair, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Gustine keep running through batters, or will the Coyotes buck the trend?
Gustine might still be hurting after the 14-8 loss they got from Denair when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
