The Mingus Marauders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 64-30 defeat at the hands of Bradshaw Mountain. While losing is never fun, Mingus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Bradshaw Mountain is ranked 83rd).
Despite the defeat, Mingus saw an underclassman step up: Ricky Villalobos scored ten points. Memphis Korolowicz was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Mason Hunt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bradshaw Mountain, dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. Hunt is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Ranniker, who scored 13 points.
Mingus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Bradshaw Mountain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingus and Mohave will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mohave is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they will play host again and welcome Prescott, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
