The Corydon Central Panthers were the 46-44 winner over the Silver Creek Dragons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Corydon Central took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Silver Creek. While losing is never fun, Corydon Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Silver Creek is ranked 19th).
Corydon Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alyssa Groover, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds, and Josie Vaughn who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Cantrell, who scored 13 points.
Corydon Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Silver Creek, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corydon Central will face off against Madison at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Madison has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Silver Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge Austin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Austin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 262 points over their last four matches.
