The Upper Sandusky Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Colonel Crawford Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Sandusky's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Colonel Crawford's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Things were looking good for Upper Sandusky after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 6-3 to Carey. The matchup marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Ella Frombaugh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Upper Sandusky saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Colonel Crawford got themselves on the board against Plymouth on Friday, but Plymouth never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Big Red. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Rowlinson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Aubrey Betts was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Olivia Friley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Colonel Crawford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Colonel Crawford now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Upper Sandusky, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Upper Sandusky has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Colonel Crawford struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Upper Sandusky was able to grind out a solid win over Colonel Crawford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
