On Friday, The Higley Knights faced the Desert Mountain Wolves in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Higley breezed by Desert Mountain on the road to the tune of 58-21. The result was nothing new for Higley, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Leading Higley to victory were Daxen Hall and Gunner Fagrell. Hall rushed for 161 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, while Fagrell threw for 246 yards and five touchdowns. Hall is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Jaden Taylor also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Desert Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Herges, who rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 172 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dylan Tapley, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Higley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which lines up perfectly with their 8-2 record this season. As for Desert Mountain, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Higley will challenge Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Williams Field is ranked 17th, while Higley is ranked 16th). As for Desert Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
