It was a good run, but the West Clermont Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Sunday. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent.
Despite the defeat, West Clermont saw an underclassman step up: Layla Hale scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Hale is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Meagyn Riffle was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and four steals.
West Clermont's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Varsity Opponent, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 87-311 record this season.
West Clermont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Canal Winchester at 4:30 p.m. on January 15th. Canal Winchester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 99th, while West Clermont is ranked 23rd). Varsity Opponent on the road again on Sunday and play against Springboro at 3:00 p.m. on January 14th.
