Basketball Recap: Pine Crest Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Pine Crest entered their tilt with Saint Andrew on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Saint Andrew's Scots 34-31. The 34-point effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Leading Pine Crest to victory were Isabella Sangha and Franky Garfi. Sangha dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 boards, while Garfi posted seven points and nine rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Sangha has scored at least a third of Pine Crest's points.

Emma Smith and Delaney Beighley certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Smith put up ten points and four steals, while Beighley earned ten points.

Pine Crest's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Saint Andrew's, they moved to 6-1 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Spanish River at 6:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Pine Crest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Saint Andrew's, they will challenge Oxbridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Andrew's defense has only allowed 22.3 points per game this season, so Oxbridge Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
