It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ovid-Elsie Marauders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Lansing Catholic, posting a 42-13 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Ovid-Elsie, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Ovid-Elsie was led to victory by Clayton Fruchey and Tryce Tokar. Fruchey rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, while Tokar rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Tokar really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Lansing Catholic's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Braden Rabideau, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Ovid-Elsie, bringing their record for this year to 8-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.5 points per game. As for Lansing Catholic, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Ovid-Elsie will head out on the road to face off against Constantine at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Constantine will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Lansing Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
