The Wheatmore Warriors will head out to face off against the Providence Grove Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheatmore will be strutting in after a win while Providence Grove will be coming in after a defeat.
Wheatmore will bounce into Friday's match after beating Southwestern Randolph, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Wheatmore came out on top against Southwestern Randolph by a score of 62-52 on Thursday.

Wheatmore had a senior duo take command as Finley Bryant went 6 of 11 on his way to 20 points and Weston Driggers dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Truman Auman, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Providence Grove played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Randleman and fell 84-51. The Patriots have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Wheatmore will have to contain Andrew Thomas as he made an impact in Providence Grove's last game. He went 10 of 25 on his way to 25 points along with five boards and three steals. Thomas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Collins, who had seven points.
Wheatmore is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Providence Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wheatmore has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Providence Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Wheatmore and Providence Grove were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but Wheatmore came up empty-handed after a 63-62 defeat. Can Wheatmore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
