Brentwood has gone 8-2 against Franklin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bruins will head out to face off against the Admirals at 6:00 p.m. Brentwood is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
On Tuesday, Brentwood got the win against Page by a conclusive 3-0.
Brentwood never let Page on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-22, 25-12.
Brentwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Queen Howse out in front who had 13 digs and two assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Large, who had 17 assists and five digs.
Meanwhile, Franklin faced Summit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Admirals came up short against the Spartans, falling 3-0. The Admirals' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
While Franklin was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 25-12.
Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Brentwood, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Brentwood has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Brentwood skirted past Franklin 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
